How spectacularly can you upgrade an event venue? This week, Midden Nederland Hallen reopened a completely renovated complex, including a brand-new theatre hall and the tallest event greenhouse in the Netherlands.
There is a good chance that the centrally located venue on the A30 motorway will be featured on the shortlists of agencies and event organisers in the coming weeks. This is because the complex has gained in appeal and a number of features have been added that no other venue in the Netherlands can match.
One theatre, five different settings
Like the brand-new Theatre Hall with mobile seating. Whereas in a “normal” theatre you are stuck with one theatre layout, here you can choose from five different settings. Want to switch to a House of Commons layout during the interval of your event at the touch of a button? You can. And with the mobile LED walls, you can create new backdrops every time.
The highest greenhouse in the Netherlands
Another asset? The two new greenhouses, which have been built on the side of the complex and are connected by a footbridge. The highest point is 14 metres above the ground, and daylight floods in from all sides onto the natural interior with lots of greenery. This creates an unrivalled sense of space during, for example, a networking event, award dinner or conference.
Turn-key industrial event hall
The existing event hall also underwent a metamorphosis to make it even more suitable for conferences and corporate parties, among other things. Bars and food corners were added on both sides of the plenary hall. And a mezzanine now “hangs” in the hall. The finishing touches are being put on five sub-spaces there. The adjacent Grand Café is being transformed into a foyer, and sub-spaces will also be added here. This will allow you to switch seamlessly from a plenary programme to break-out sessions.
1 complex, 3 worlds for events
The renovated Midden Nederland Hallen opened on 18 September with a spectacular evening for more than 1,600 guests. After a reception in the breathtakingly illuminated Event Greenhouse, they were among the first to see 40-45, the Musical, and were given a sneak preview of the location. ‘One complex, with three worlds,’ said Timo Kruft in his speech, looking back on a monumental task. ‘We only had eight months and we went for nothing less than gold. We succeeded; together, we made history.’

With the recent expansions, the floor space of the Midden Nederland Hallen has increased to more than 15,000 square metres. With five large halls and more than 15 sub-spaces, the complex is now one of the largest event venues in the Netherlands. Without feeling overwhelming, because the different worlds make the complex suitable for events with as few as 100 guests.
Energy neutral and turnkey
The Midden Nederland Hallen also pushed its own boundaries in the area of sustainability. The number of solar panels was expanded to more than 3,000, and batteries were installed to store sustainable energy. Cooling and heating are provided by energy from the ground, and technology, catering and furnishings are all available on site, which saves a lot of transport. This contributes to the low footprint of events at the Midden Nederland Hallen.
